American Airlines Postcard. A bit unusual in that the back of this card is done
in both English and Spanish. "Volando Por La Ruta de los
"Flagships"" "In Flight Route of the Flagships".
Unsent. 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. Some creases on the bottom right where the card

Older deck of Aviator Playing cards. Some soiling on the edges of cards, and

Unusual Pan American card, made so that it could be used for a Ham radio contact
card. 1959. Some writing on front, glue in back where it was in a scrapbook.

An incredible lithograph of a rather fanciful flight. On the bottom: "By
permission of the patentees, this engraving of The First Carriage, The
"Ariel", is respectfully inscribed to the directors of The Ariel
Transit Company, by their obedient servants Ackermann & Co. London.
Published March 28th 1843 by Ackermann & Co. 96 Strand" Looks like a
lithograph. Has been framed a long time. Mat has faded, and probably should be
replaced, frame has some paint chips, and could stand to be repainted or
replaced. Frame 16 1/4 x 18 5/8 inches. Picture inside the mat is 11 x 13 1/2
inches. Light yellowing of the print, some of the coloring may have faded as I
have seen this same print on one of the Aviation museum websites, and it had
stronger coloring, but I think the print was hand colored, and the artists may
not have used as much color in the one I have. The Ariel was developed by
William Samuel Henson and John Stringfellow, and patented in 1842. A small model
of the plane may have flown on a wire, but larger models were unsuccessful. The
full size version was not built. $125.00 item #4305
