5323russelure.jpg (57445 bytes) Fly Rod Russelure fishing spoon. in its original plastic box (top not shown, but it does have a plastic top), I do not think the lure has ever been fished. Box has a few scratches. Originally cost 75¢ new, says it was "Fair Traded". Lure slightly over 1 inch without hook. The Russelure was a rather unique lure, you can see the various hook positions, line ties, and etc.made of aluminum and for this particular lure gold anodized.  $22.50 item #5323

Early, given away by National Sportsman Magazine, I think it was a prize for selling subscriptions, but may be wrong in that. Brass. On the back it says "The National Sportsman - 275 Newbury St. Boston, Mass - Magazine of Good Fellowship For Lovers of Sport With Rod, Dog, Rifle, and Gun - Robbins Co. Attleboro Mass" Light wear, really nice patina of age. 1 3/4 inches. A really nice piece, if I did not have one in my collection, I would not be selling this. $62.50 item #5324

Nilo Farms was a hunting preserve started by Olin Winchester as a place to breed dogs, and test Winchester guns. Pins like this one were given to folks invited to hunt there. The dog on the pin was named King Buck, he was a national champion field trial dog owned by Nilo Kennels. Maynard Reese did his portrait which was used for the 1959 Federal Duck Stamp. The same painting was used for this pin. 1 1/2 inches, This is at least the second version of this pin. Probably 1970s. good condition, Very light scratches on front, some light scratches on back. $75.00 item #5709

With the fiberboard insert, I think this was used for crickets, grasshoppers, or worms. You could remove the insert, and use it as a no floating minnow bucket, but with the perforations, you would have had to have a bucket to set it in. 10 quart. Liberty Distributors, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Galvanized. A little soiled, and with a few scratches in the red paint, still an excellent bait bucket. Wooden handle. 9 inches tall, 9 inches across. $42.50 item #1529

Given out by the magazine, possibly for the sale of subscriptions, or possibly just for advertising. The magazine was located in Columbus, Ohio. "An illustrated up to date 160-200 page magazine of information for Hunters, Traders, Trappers, Anglers, Prospectors, Campers, etc." it says on the back. Light scratches and wear. 2 1/8 x 1 1/2 inches. $65.00 item #5710

Very interesting to compare the values then, to today's prices. 576 pages, 8 1/4 x 10 1/2 inches. Some wear to the cover, spine and edges. Soiling of the spine, cover, some pages, and the edges of the pages. (Heavy, best to be sent media mail) $17.50 item #4680

Herter's was a retail discount sporting goods catalog most famous from the the 1950s to 1970s. Good condition, my guess is that it is made of bakelite or hard rubber. 5 1/4 x 1 3/4 inches. $12.50 item #5711

Enamel and sterling. Good condition, some tarnish. I think the Scientific Anglers company gave these out to people who caught a fish above a certain weight using Scientific Anglers line, reels, or etc. and sent in a photo and affidavit certifying their catch.  Scientific Anglers is a division of the 3M company. 1950s-1960s.$39.50 item #5403

Says "Stay on the H-I Road to good Fishing Tackle" on the ruler side, and "Ask your dealer about the Horrocks - Ibbotson Tackle contest - You may win $500 in prizes." on the back. Darkened slightly with age, red stain on the front probably from a magic marker, between 4 and 5 inches. $12.50 item #5636
