Field & Stream Award and Honor Badge Pins
These were given to anglers for the Field & Stream Magazine contest each year. The badges were given out from 1934-1977.The hunting badge pins were given out as part of the hunting contest, or for taking a game animal that met a minimum size. The first bird badges were given out when a person shot their first bird of that species. Hunters and fishermen had to send in a picture, and a form, to apply for the badges. All are hard to find.

Two Field & Stream Arctic Grayling honor badges both with the original certificates. The first, marked A, is for a 2 lb 2 1/4 oz. Grayling, Caught August 10, 1970 By Ivan G. Grimshaw Jr. from Fort Wayne, Indiana. The certificate just says 2 lbs 2 ounces, leaves off the 1/4 ounce, the pin does have the 1/4 ounce engraved. . The second, marked B., is for a grayling caught on August 14 by Michael Grimshaw of Owosso, Michigan, it is 2 lbs. 2 1/2 ounces. Both certificate and pin are marked with the half. I wonder if a bet was won on that 1/4 of an ounce difference. First pins I have seen that recorded a fraction of an ounce. Both pins, and certificates are in good shape. Pins are 1 1/8 inch, copper in color. Pretty rare to find the original certificates, and the Arctic Grayling is a bit hard to find as well. $150.00 each A or B. , your choice. Item #5672
Field & Stream Bass Award pin. What you see here is a very unusual pin.
I bought this, and several other field & stream pins from the son of the man
who won them. All of his pins were plated with a bright chrome or nickel plate.
I do not know if the man who received them, or field & stream had this done.
Several of the pins showed some oxidation so I am sure the plating was done a
long time ago. This pin is very clean. It is for a 4lb. 5 oz. .It either was for
a northern strain largemouth or a smallmouth bass due to the weight. 1 1/8
inches. $125.00 item #5674
