I have tried to research it, and as far as I can tell distelfink is Pennsylvania Dutch for a goldfinch. But I can find no connection to it in the navy. Might not even be US navy. A study of the military arts of the Romans. very interesting reading. The only date I can find is 1888, but I think the book is later than that. 127 pages. Excellent condition. $29.50 item #213

Very basic coverage of flight control systems, illustrated, 65 pages. 4 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches. Some spine damage, creases in cover. Soft bound. 5412trainerpanationalguardphoto.jpg (504510 bytes) I wish he had shown a bit more of the plane, but it is a nice photo showing a soldier standing beside what I think is a North American Aviation Harvard or Texan training plane. The soldier has a red keystone on his helmet for the 28th Infantry Division that formed in Pennsylvania. 3 1/2 inches. Good condition. $5.50 item #5412

The first photo says "Gen. Winans and Staff Hawaiian Division Review 8-14-28, it is 2 1/2 x 7 inches. The second photo has stamped on the back the name, and address of a photo company in the Hawaiian Islands, very unusual military trucks, 3 x 4 inches.. Third photo is the same soldier as shown with the trucks, 3 1/2 x 5 inches. The fourth photo says Chateau Shanty Masterprint and is of a howitzer, and probably the general and his staff, Hawaiian Islands, 3 1/2 x 4 inches. . The fifth and sixth photos are of the back of an artillery piece, and ammunition caisson, each 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. Some yellowing, a few corner creases, light soiling and wear, but still nice photos. $39.00 item #5413

Probably a sweetheart gift given by a sailor to his sweetheart, wife, or mother. Silk and lace. Light soiling, good condition. Likely WW I  or earlier era, but possibly as late as WW II. 11 x 11 inches. $29.00 item #5531

I have 4, 1940, 1943, 1950 and 1961 the pictures above are from the 1961 copy. The manual is a handbook for sailors which discusses everything from code of conduct, ranks, insignia,  1940 has wear to the cover, spine, and edges, light insect damage to first couple of pages, 784 pages. 1943 is the largest of the manuals at 1145 pages, which makes sense due to the addition of all the WW II materials. Cover fading, wear, book is a bit loose, edge, corner wear. Some soiling. 1950 is in about the same condition, 828 pages. 1961 edition is 640 pages. 5 1/4 x 8 inches each. I expect Moravian texts are hard to find, especially those intended for men in the armed forces. Belonged to a Corporal from Winston Salem, there was a good bit of Moravian settlement around the Winston Salem, North Carolina area. Daily texts for 12 months, a list of Moravian churches around the world and in the United States. Some statistics, too, and there were only 38,000 members in the US. Some soiling, you can see some blotching on the cover, edge and corner wear. Soft bound, 4 x 5 3/4 inches. 223 pages. $10.50 Item #5540

Hardbound, cloth cover, wear edges, especially the top edge where some of the cloth is gone. Light soiling, corner and edge wear. EAA stands for the Experimental Aircraft Association based out of Oshkosh, Wisconsin where they have a huge fly in every year. patch has been sewn onto a flight suit, from which it was cut, leaving nylon material on the back. Struppmann & Co. Bronze 4 1/2 inches, Heavy. Good shape, light wear, light tarnish. I could not find a book by this name, or info on the company that made it.
