Laotian Wall Hanging. . Very colorful embroidery, depicting a very dark time in
history. Some Laotians and Hmong people settled in my part of North Carolina
after the Vietnam war. Some of the older ladies make beautiful embroidered wall
hangings that tell a story. I struggled a bit whether to put this in the
miscellaneous category, but decided to put it in military because of the
subject. matter. This was bought at a street festival a couple of years ago.
What I think it depicts is communist soldiers, and commissars in Laos, driving
some of the Laotians to become refugees. Prison camps, commissars, soldiers,
airplane. Two of the soldiers, shown in the last picture are carrying AK-47
rifles. 17 x 25 1/2 inches. In good condition. Would be beautiful ironed,
starched and framed. Hours and hours of work went into quilting and embroidering
this tapestry. $45.00 item #4966
